After the Holidays Weight Loss Tips
It’s that time of the year! Christmas and New Years are finally over after you got filled with decadent desserts and other indulgences! Are you thinking about your weight. I know I am. It seems like most people put on the “holiday 5” despite their best efforts at trying to eat small portions. However, you can lose the weight and put the damage behind you. The key is to take control of your diet and exercise routine while focusing on the future. So think positive, you can do this and shed those extra pounds with these after the holidays weight loss tips!
You are not alone if you gain weight during the holidays. A study from Brown Medical School in Rhode Island found that most people gain weight during the holidays. However, individuals who are overweight before the holidays tend to gain more and can gain about 5 pounds.
Here are four easy tips to help you lose the holiday pounds:
1. Take Control of Your Environment
If you are serious about weight loss after the holidays, then you have to remove the temptations from your home. This means getting rid of the holiday cookies, fudge and other indulgences that jeopardize your weight loss goals. Yup you just gotta do it!
2. Set Realistic Goals
You did not gain all of the weight in one hour, so you cannot expect to lose it immediately. You have to set realistic goals about your weight loss and have patience.
3. Stay Flexible
If you eat the last reindeer cookie and fall of the diet wagon, it is important to forgive yourself and move on. Instead of dwelling on the mistake, you should focus on creating a better plan to lose weight and exercising more often. Maybe giving those reindeer cookies away!
4. Get Social Support
You may want to reach out to your friends and family members who are also trying to lose the holiday pounds. You can create your own support group and keep each other accountable. Remember you can do this!

I second the social support tip. This is day 17 of our group kettlebell squat challenge and I’m doing well and on track to finish the challenge. It’s become an exercise habit now that I will keep up the rest of the year.
