9 All Natural Antibiotics
So since we have been looking at a leaky gut and know antibiotics are “one bad mama” for us to use, I thought I’d share info on natural antibiotics! This time of year with all the parties, events and people we come in contact with, it is great to know there are some natural things we can use and do to help our bodies stay healthy!
If we can build our body’s immune system naturally and fight off infection and disease before it even strikes, we’re ahead of the game.
Adding these foods to our diet will keep our immune system functioning at its best all year long!
Garlic
Garlic is especially helpful in fighting against fungal infections. If you can manage it, eating a few cloves of raw garlic at the first onset of symptoms will significantly shorten the length of a cold. We throw the raw garlic in with some fresh pressed lemons, water and honey and drink it down. In addition to fighting infection, garlic is also great for lowering blood pressure.
Ginger
Ginger helps to fight mucus and phlegm. Add fresh ginger to a cup of tea or mix powdered ginger into your favorite recipe.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar is one of the best antibiotics ever. It contains high levels of acetic and malic acid as well as vitamins, minerals and amino acids. A daily dose of just one tablespoon is all you need and you can easily get it by adding the vinegar to a glass of water or mixing it into your salad dressing.
Raw Honey
Raw honey helps your body build a barrier to prevent infections. A great, healing tea can be made by adding one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, one teaspoon of raw honey, a fresh lemon wedge and a sprinkling of cinnamon to a cup of hot water. If you drink this at the first onset of cold symptoms, you’ll be feeling better within a matter of hours. This is also great for sore throats.
Onions
Not only do onions provide a natural antibiotic to infection, they can also help protect you from cancer. Raw or cooked, they provide the same benefits so enjoy them with your favorite meals.
Habanero Peppers
Because of the high concentration of capsaicin in Habanero peppers, consuming them can promote several health benefits including fighting infection as well as certain types of cancer.
Turmeric
Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory and has been beneficial in preventing cancer as well as Alzheimer’s disease. It is also a natural antiseptic and can be used to disinfect cuts and burns.
Horseradish Root
Horseradish root has been shown to be a natural antibiotic against a variety of bacteria, including sinus infections.
Oregano Oil
Oregano oil not only has antibacterial qualities, it is also antiviral and antifungal so it will help protect your body from a variety of infections.

I am a big fan of natural options. I use oregano oil all the time. Not just for myself, but for my backyard chickens as well. Whenever any chicks are looking sick, I add to their water, and all is well. Love that it is a natural option that doesn’t force a vet appointment and that doesn’t have side effects.
