Slow Cooker Double Dinners for Two:
Cook Once, Eat Twice Giveaway
I love to cook with my Slow Cooker, also called CrockPot. When I was offered the chance to review Slow Cooker Double Dinners for TWO, Cook Once Eat Twice, I was intrigued how 2 meals would be made cooking once. I thought I would just be using the original recipe in a leftover recipe for dinner the next day. But I was pleasantly surprised with something so easy and something I never even thought of! Maybe your great cooks out there who use your Slow Cooker often had already thought of this but I sure hadn’t.
I am hooked now wanting to try all these recipes! I have two 6 quart Slow Cookers and I do use them when company comes. But this cookbook is really going to come in handy since when there is just 2 of us for dinner I hate freezing leftovers. I also love the full page color photos. The two recipes I made were Lime-Lemon Pot Roast with Tomato Sauce and Vinegar-Braised Pot Roast. Click HERE to get the recipes!
Award-winning author, Cynthia Graubart shows home cooks how to maximize their food budget by using a slow cooker and cooking once but eating twice! The author uses two liner bags to create two different dinners at the same time with her recipes. I used her recipes in my 6 quart Slow Cooker. I have never cooked with liner bags before and find that the ease of clean up after their use is amazing. Now I can create a tasty meal for tonight and truly a new second meal for later in the week. Of course you can always freeze them.
The book is perfect for busy people on the go, newlyweds, empty nesters, small apartment dwellers, and for use in unusual spaces where a slow cooker might be the only appliance available for cooking (i.e., vacation cabin, boat, RV). Meals for two have never been so easy, convenient or delicious!
Cynthia’s recipes are easy, no additional preparation steps, like browning, are required and no additional appliances such as a stove, oven or microwave are needed. Each recipe is designed for two and all of the ingredients can be found in local grocery stores, without an extra trip to a specialty store. Slow Cooker Double Dinners for TWO features recipes using Poultry, Lamb, Beef and Pork followed by unique recipes that use the same cut of meat as their base, but taste nothing alike due to all the seasoning differences. Enjoy diverse recipes like:
Chicken Marsala with Mushrooms Wine Sauce
Rustic Mexican Stew
Chunky Chicken Soup with Garlic and Thyme
Turkey Breast Tenderloin with Cranberry-Orange Sauce
Chutney Beef Stew
Pot Roast with Vegetables and Feta
Mediterranean Lamb and Olive Stew
Cynthia has even included a chapter of vegetarian recipes that are easy to prepare in a small slow cooker:
Cauliflower and Bean Curry
Vegetarian Chili
Ratatouille
Apple and Vegetable Stew

No, I’ve never 2 meals at once in a crockpot/slow cooker. But I do have a slow cooker that came with inserts to use for doing just that:cooking several things at once.
jeanette sheets says
i have at times
Dorothy Teel says
At times, I will make a port or beef roast and then with the left over meat I will make barbeque sandwiches or beef and rice, yummy

What a great way to save time and money! I’m a big fan of cook once, eat twice meals, but I’ve never tried it with my crockpot.

I Love cooking in a crockpot as it’s so easy and I can’t burn it!! I would love new ideas of cooking double the recipe for more than just a roast…gets boring after a while!
Colleen says
I understand kyom. With 2 large crocks I could cook 1x week and make a whole weeks worth of meals that are all different!!
Jen S. says
The closest I’ve done is cook something like a roast and then use the leftovers to make something new. Good read!
Colleen says
Thanks Jen S. This has opened up a whole world of new crock cooking for me!
kims2312 says
I have never tried cooking two meals at once in the crock pot. The cooking liners must make cleanup a breeze.
Colleen says
Me either kims2312. My meals are going to be more exciting and less cooking for sure! With the large crock I could have doubled the recipes and had many more meals!
