Crafted Gluten Free was so kind to ship this to our vacation spot for December in Florida where my entire family could sample the products. I chose to make the Southern Glory Biscuit Baking Mix to serve with a salad and fresh fish we had caught. I mixed up the product using coconut oil and flattened the dough and cut out biscuits. I placed the biscuits on a baking dish and covered them with saran wrap then refrigerated them as stated in their directions then baked them for the time required on the box.
I really miss having a good gluten-free gluten-free biscuit recipe and was thrilled to make these to go with our dinner. I thought I would serve them with the Ghost Pepper & Peach Preserves that were in the package samples. I have been told that Ghost Peppers are the hottest pepper there is so I was a bit nervous. My son loves hot foods and has always been asking to taste something with Ghost peppers. So he tried the biscuits with the Ghost Pepper & Peach Preserves first. He gobbled it down and said he barely tasted any heat in the preserves and went for seconds. So I tried it next on my biscuits. The preserves barely touched my mouth and I had to spit it out! It was very very hot! I loved the preserve flavor with peach but the heat I could not tolerate. You should know that I have to order mild with anything that has heat and sometimes that is too hot for me. Next, my husband tried the Ghost Pepper Preserves and he loved it saying it had a bit of kick after the fact and he went for seconds. So depending on your tolerance for heat, these preserves were a hit with 2 out of 3 loving it.
The Southern Glory Biscuits were a big hit with everyone using a topping of their choice. My daughter in law must have eaten 4 or more biscuits and we all had seconds and more. My husband summed them up best, they tasted like regular biscuits but didn’t fall apart like most gluten products do. He said we need to get these more often!
We took the Sante Candied Pecans with us on the plane to snack on during our long flights back to Alaska. They were yummy and my husband ate most of them.
My daughter in law is going to be trying the Mediterranean Spinach Frittata Mix and Cranberry Pancake & Muffin Mix when we get back to Alaska. She will give me an update and I’ll share her opinion and recipes later.
I am very happy to recommend Crafted Gluten Free, and very happy that they also have a dairy-free & gluten-free products for those of us who need to eliminate both from our diets!
