Heart Healthy Benefits of the Avocado
There are many benefits of the avocado. Avocados are rich in pantothenic acid, fiber, vitamins C, B6, E and K, copper, folate and potassium. This fruit also delivers small amounts of manganese, magnesium, vitamins A, B1, B2 and B3. These lead to proper digestion, healthy skin and hair, insulin regulation, weight management and blood sugar control among other health rewards.
The avocado also delivers a benefit which may be unique to this yummy and versatile food.
Avocado is high in fat. That is why some people avoid it. One cup of avocado delivers approximately 22 g of fat. However, adding avocado to a sensible diet has been linked directly to lower levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol, less oxidative stress in your bloodstream and a lower risk of contracting heart disease.
How is this unique?
Most foods that are high in fat are not heart healthy. Uniquely it is the presence of oleic acid, among other monounsaturated fats, in avocado that delivers the heart healthy benefits. Those particular fats found in avocados, along with beta-sitosterol, campesterol, and stigmasterol compounds, make this fruit an excellent anti-inflammatory source. This includes limiting inflammation throughout your cardiovascular system!
Researchers believe this happens because the avocado is extremely high in healthy fats, while most other fruits are carbohydrate-rich instead. All of these heart healthy benefits arrive with just 160 calories and 2 net carbs, as well as 2 g of protein and 15 g of healthy fats, in a single avocado. As a heart healthy food, the cholesterol-free, sodium- free, low-saturated fat avocado makes a delicious choice.

I love avocados and could eat them every day. I just worry that I will become allergic to them also as if you’re allergic to bananas you’re more likely to be allergic to avocados. I wish you could tell me how often I should eat avocado to lessen the risk.
