5 Haunted Places in Alaska
Whether you’re looking for ghost stories of Alaska or actual haunted spots in Alaska, I’ve got you covered! Add the places you like to the comments below.
Gateway to Darkness – Open October 3rd through November 1st, this haunted house is only for teens and adults! It’s pretty scary, and gets an 8 out of 10 on the scare scale from Haunt World. It’s $15 at the door, or you can buy tickets online. As of right now, their official 2016 schedule isn’t up, but it should be soon.
Ghost Tours of Anchorage – Wanna see lots of ghosty stuff all in one night? Take one of the walking Ghost Tours of Anchorage. You’ll be guided by a gentleman in a top hat with a Hemmingway beard, while winding through the alleys and haunted streets of Anchorage. The tour provides you with lots of history, and some fun mixed in. The tour takes about 2 hours, and tickets are $15. Tours run May through September, and no reservations are needed to secure a spot. Be sure to wear good walking shoes!
The Real Deal
Ready to get haunted? These spots are the real deal according to ghost lovers, ehem, and reviewers online. If you’re down for the challenge, check them out.
White House Bed & Breakfast – This house once served as a hospital, a daycare, and even a hotel before the fire in the 1980’s. Since the home has been restored, there have been multiple sightings of a young woman. She’s said to chat with guests’ children, leading visitors to believe she is the woman who once owned the daycare but has since passed.
Old Jesse Lee Home for Children – In 1964, there was an earthquake that caused the death of several children at the Jesse Lee Home for Children. If you drive by in the evening, you might hear children giggling and jumping rope.
Chitina – If you haven’t read the story of Chitina’s history, you really should! Besides being creepy, it’s super intriguing. Chitina is said to be the most haunted area in Alaska. The Kennecott Mines and old Copper Railroad are rich in history, with many lives lost during its construction.
In the late 1990s, government housing was built on this land but it was closed down because workers kept hearing voices and children laughing, and tools were getting misplaced. Tourists have had mine workers and long-gone children show up in their photos, too.
If you are only going to pick one thing to do on this list, I suggest the walking tour or visiting Chitina. They’re both unique to our great state of Alaska, and spooky enough to give you chills for days!
Are you brave enough to visit the haunted spots in Alaska?

I would love to go on the 2 hour walking tour, but since I am recuperating from 2 falls and had to have 2 surgeries, one to repair 7 breaks in my right leg below the knee and a shattered right hip and subsequent hip replacement, I would have to be in a wheelchair for that one. Can you stay overnight at the White House Bed & Breakfast? My favorite would probably be Chitina, but may have to wait a couple of years before visiting. They all sound very spooky.
