Getting that Perfect Taste and Texture with Home Ground Flour
A flour grinder lets you take
gluten-free ingredients like rice, quinoa, or almonds and grind them into fine
flour that is perfect for a wide variety of foods. Of course you could have
just bought that flour, but bagged flour
shipped from a warehouse and shipped across the country cannot compare to
fresh-ground flour made in your very own kitchen. When you bake gluten-free,
you want the best taste for your breads or cookies, and nothing beats the sheer
fresh taste of rice bread that was made from flour ground only a few hours ago.
Not only that, but for those who like to combine different flours together to
get a particular taste or texture, it can be much easier to grind each
ingredient and mix them together while they’re fresh to get the best taste and
feel for your food.

Convenient Access to Nutritional Ingredients
Scrumptious Almond Flour is best when fresh. |
We all want to be able to eat
nutritional foods, and many of us want to get away from processed junk that
leaves us feeling bloated and unhealthy. Grinding your own flour from
ingredients that you know are clean and pure gives you some peace of mind when
you bake. No need to be concerned about where this rice flour came from or what
was done to treat that almond flour: now you can easily and simply take raw
ingredients and grind them up to fit your needs. Furthermore, using the flour
when its fresh maximizes the nutritional quality of the food you bake since it
hasn’t had time to decay and lose that short-lived burst of nutrients.

Save a Bit of Cash While You’re at it
Rice flour, almond flour, quinoa, all
of these are a little outside of the norm for many people. As such, the price
of these ingredients in processed form can be simply ridiculous. On the other
hand, many of these same ingredients are quite common in their raw form and are
much cheaper to acquire that way. Sure, you could buy that rice flour off of
the shelf or from an online store, but why not just get a big 40lb bag for
pennies compared to the price of that little bag of flour and be able to grind
enough flour to last for a year? You’re already having to deal with eating less
common foods and ingredients (and paying for it), why deal with the extra price
for something you can do yourself?

It’s been a number of years since I
first looked into buying my own flour mill. Having seen so many people,
particularly people who need gluten-free resources, struggle to find quality
information on flour grinders I have created a website at OnlyGrainMills.com that includes many
guides and informational videos that can be quite helpful in choosing which
flour mill is right for your needs. I hope that it will prove useful to you,
and I wish you good luck in your future cooking and baking endeavours!

Thank you for the info. I have been waiting for that final push to convince me that this is the way to go

I had a flour grinder and really miss it. I can’t figure out what happened to it, but I think for a while when I moved out of state it went who-knows-where. I love making cracked grains for cereal, making my own flours, etc. The freshness is uncomparable!!! I have the tiniest kitchen right now, so I haven’t gotten another one, but I’m about ready to bust out!!!

Thanks for the flour miling info my sister has MS and found out that Gluten-free may help her stay walking on her own longer. I’ll let her know about this. She’s a great home cook.

sherry, I’m glad this may help her! I think getting as natural as our lifestyle allows us is better for us in so many ways. I hope your sister goes into remission.

Wow this is a very interesting post about home flour milling. I never thought about milling my own flour. I like the Flour Mill that is used to mill your own flour. Rice flour bread sounds really interesting. I like homemade bread. Would love to make a rice bread.

This does look like fun, but too much work for me. I have no time or energy for the amount of cooking that I do now… I can’t imagine adding a step like this. Thanks for the info.
