One way to get your morning greens and a delicious breakfast is to add Kale to citrus and other fruits for a wonderful breakfast smoothie!   I love the ease of whipping up a nutritious breakfast like this Kale Orange Creamsicle Smoothie, and its so yummy!

This smoothie recipe also uses oranges and mixed berries along with other healthy immune boosting ingredients.  Purple Kale gives this breakfast drink it’s lovely purple color!  And the Clementines are so sweet! It is a wonderful way to get your kids to have a healthy breakfast.

Healthline.com says this about Clementines:

Clementines are also a vitamin C powerhouse, with one small fruit providing 40% of your daily needs. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and immune booster that can prevent cellular damage from harmful and unstable compounds called free radicals (2Trusted Source).

In addition, one clementine provides some folate and thiamine. These vitamins perform many functions to keep your body working optimally, including helping prevent anemia and promoting a healthy metabolism (3Trusted Source, 4Trusted Source).

Kale is highly nutritious and offers several health benefits, including supporting heart health, aiding in weight management, and providing antioxidants that may help reduce the risk of certain diseases. It is rich in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as fiber, which can improve digestion and overall health.

Ingredients

  • 1 small bunch of purple kale
  • 1 small orange or clementine
  • 1.5 cups frozen mixed berries
  • 1-2 tablespoons raw honey
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • dash of warm water

Instructions

  • Add all of the ingredients to the blender at the same time. I find rinsing the frozen berries under warm water helps in breaking everything down a little faster. Blend until completely smooth about 1-2 minutes depending the strength of the blender.
  • The combination of the citrus mixed with the super sweet raw honey and tropical element with the coconut oil works perfectly to create a surprisingly creamsicle like flavor. This is a total hit in our house!

  3. I would never have thought to “hide” kale in a smoothie but I can see how the strong berry and citrus taste would cover it. It looks delicious although nothing like an orange creamsicle. lol
