Matcha Macadamia Brownies

I belong to a fun group that was started by Peanut Butter & Co called the Yum Squad!   They occasionally send out a Mystery Ingredient Challenge for us to make a recipe. This month we are celebrating the National Peanut Month. As a result, PB & Co sent a mystery ingredient for March, Matcha Green Tea Powder!  Considering that PB&Co deals mostly with peanut butter, I was surprised to find a TEA in the challenge.  However, I had fun doing this recipe challenge and I hope you enjoy my recipe for Matcha Macadamia Brownies!

Matcha Green Tea Powder is an antioxidant super powerhouse! In addition, the ORAC antioxidant score for Matcha Green Tea is 1573! As a result, it has many health benefits:

  • It is packed with antioxidants including the powerful EGCg
  • Boosts metabolism and burns calories
  • Detoxifies effectively and naturally
  • Calms the mind and relaxes the body
  • Is rich in fiber, chlorophyll and vitamins
  • Enhances mood and aids in concentration
  • Provides vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc and magnesium
  • Prevents disease
  • Lowers cholesterol and blood sugar

It took me awhile to figure out what I would like to make using Matcha Green Tea but after searching and thinking, I decided to make a recipe based on the Ginger Macadamia Brownie Recipe in the Gluten-Free Almond Flour cookbook.  I changed up the recipe and you will find my recipe for Matcha Macadamia Bars below, enjoy!

I used PB & Co White Chocolate Wonderful, a wonderful way to get that chocolate in. Above all, I should have called these brownies Triple Chocolate Bars!   I received product to help facilitate this recipe.

  1. I love Matcha Tea, I do prefer the black to the green though. I like to take some Matcha Tea, add soy milk and ice. Refreshing for that hot summer day…thank you for sharing.
