Omission Gluten Free Beer Review
Omission is a brand of Gluten Free Beer. I have really missed a good tasting beer since I have had to give up gluten. I received Gluten Free Beer products from Omission for Review but was not compensated in any other way for this review and all opinions are my own.
I received the package shown above containing individual bottles of Omission Gluten Free Beer. A styrofoam topper enclosing each bottle neck is not shown. The packaging was very secure and I was anxious to try this brand of Gluten Free Beer. My son brews beer so I thought I’d have him also taste the three varieties that were sent to me.
About Omission Gluten Free Beer:
This is handcrafted beer made from malted barley, hops, water and yeast…brewed using a proprietary process to remove the gluten. Omission Gluten Free Beer contain gluten levels well below the CODEX gluten free standard of 20ppm, as defined by the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization and the World Health Organization.
That being said, I do not have celiac disease…but am gluten intolerance. I felt comfortable trying Omission Gluten Free Beer and am happy to say I had no abdominal cramps or other problems after sampling Omission Beers. I rated these from 1-5 with one being poor and 5 being great.
Omission Lager Beer was the first one we sampled and the color was very light. I loved this beer! It tasted like real beer and was malty in flavor, not hoppy and light. It was very refreshing and crisp in flavor. My son said it had great head, since Gluten Free Beer have a difficult time with that and with head retention. I gave this a super rating of 5. My son ( the beer snob ) gave it a 4 which is very good for someone who brews their own beer! He says no one gets a 5 because that is perfection. Well to my taste buds it was perfection.
This Omission Lager also recieved a Gold Medal in the Gluten Free Beer Category, 2012 Great International Beer and Cider Competition.
I will be buying this beer and keeping it on hand, I loved it. It is really nice to know what to look for when we travel, and know it will taste fabulous.
Omission IPA was our 2nd favorite of the 3 Gluten Free Beer sampled. It had a very good head and retention. My son felt it was average for IPA beers, comparing it to non Gluten Free Beer! To me it tasted above average. The color was just right for an IPA, not too dark and the flavor was good. My son nailed it when he said it had notable pine aromas. It has pine, along with citrus and grapefruit aromas and flavors. It was a heavier beer but very smooth in taste. It tasted slightly bitter as should an IPA taste. I rated it a 4 and my son rated it 3.
Omission Pale Ale was the 2nd Gluten Free Beer we sampled. It also had a good head and retention. The color was much darker than any pale beer I have had. It tasted very bitter and malty to me. Neither my son or myself liked this beer’s flavor, although it received a Silver Medal in the Gluten Free Beer Category, 2012 Great International Beer and Cider Competition. My son felt it should be more hoppy. I just felt it was too bitter. My son gave beer a 2 and I’d have to agree.
Overall, with 2 Omission Gluten Free Beer products out of 3 being very good I was very happy to have found the Omission Brand. I will be buying their Lager and was grateful to receive such great service and information from the Omission gang.
You can find more information about these Omission Gluten Free Beer as what malts and hops were used and what the IBU and ABV results for each beer are at their website Omission Beer. You can also follow Omission on Facebook and Twitter.
